Progress on a purse
A couple of months ago I posted about my new embroidery frame. In that post you could see a piece of embroidery that is now finally finished! I think I have started it back in January 2007 or so.
The piece is 9 by 18 cm. The ground is linen and the embroidery is done with spun silk. This piece is now ready to be lined and finished with tassels with turk's head knots (see photo below).
I'm still waiting for the lining silk to arrive and I need to make up my mind about the tassels and laces colours. The turk's head knots will be burgundy red. Should I go for purple or ochre tassels?

Your embroidery turned out very nicely! How about ochre tassels with purple heads?

Beautiful! You can also use both purple and ochre tassels:-) Maybe that clashes with our modern sense of taste and colour, but it always surprises me that lots of medieval purses have tassels in different colours.
I would say ... purple tassels with the red heads, since there is a lot of ochre in the embroidered piece.
As always, it's stunning! How about gold thread gimp turks heads?
really beautiful and needs lot of work, I suppose...
Go with the ochre; that way you'll have the decorations tie in (no pun intended) with the colors of your design.
It is lovely!
